Manchester Central expands its catering offer

Manchester Central expands its catering offer Manchester Central has unveiled its new state-of-the-art kitchen; allowing the award-winning venue to cater for more guests, explore innovative menu concepts and provide their clients and visitors with a culinary experience like no other. The new open plan layout, which increases floor space by 20% and production capacity by 50%, ensures the most efficient flow from food delivery to service, guaranteeing freshness and quality. This, coupled with investment in the latest culinary equipment will see the venue produce 95% of its menu items in-house, allowing catering for each and every event to be tailored to suit individual requirements. A new Urban Cultivator, or ‘indoor garden’ means that the team can now grow micro lettuces, herbs and edible flowers to use throughout their extensive range of dishes. Already committed to sustainability, this new addition to the kitchen supports the venue’s pledge to source locally wherever possible. Matthew Hagan, Executive Chef at Manchester Central, said: “Food is such an important part of any event and I’m incredibly excited to start cooking in our newly renovated kitchen. There’s no doubt that our facilities are amongst some of the best in the North West and we’re looking forward to showcasing our enhanced hospitality offer to our guests”. Shaun Hinds, CEO of Manchester Central, said: “Clients regularly comment on the quality of our hospitality offer and we’re always looking at ways in which we can make it even better.  By investing in our kitchen, clients with events big and small can be assured that their delegates will be served with exceptional food and have an unbeatable experience”. University Place celebrates 10 years

The University of Manchester’s University Place celebrates 10 years of hosting conferences The University of Manchester’s flagship conference venue, University Place, celebrated last month its 10th anniversary of hosting national and international conferences. The celebrations were marked publicly on the 4th July with a birthday cake and cupcakes on the first evening of the  British Society of Gerontology’s 47th Annual Conference. The Lord Mayor of Manchester June Hitchen was a guest and together with Debora Price, the President of the Society, helped cut the cake to mark the occasion watched by around 450 delegates. Jane Pinder, Events Manager for the University commented “We were delighted that the British Society of Gerontology were happy to be part of our anniversary celebrations as their conference took place in the same week that we hosted our first conference for Manchester City Council back in 2008. Over the past 10 years, University Place has become a very important venue for our own academics who want to showcase their work through being able to host conferences for societies and associations they are members of, and the venue is also an important asset to the city’s conference portfolio. In the past 10 years, thousands of delegates have attended conferences here, our largest being the IUAES conference in 2013 where we hosted around 1500 delegates, and we are looking forward to celebrating the continued success of University Place in the next 10 years”. Unique Venues of Manchester finalists at CHS Awards 2018

Proud Parent The other day my son handed me an envelope saying, “Dad, you need to read this”. Firstly surprise and fear, followed by feelings of apprehension, concern and curiosity all hit my mind like a drumstick beating a drum, whilst desperately trying to hide any emotions until I knew what was going on. I tentatively read through what had been handed to me. Gradually the concern and apprehension faded, to be replaced by relief with a side of excitement, the surprise was still lingering, and finally everything was replaced by a chest thumping proudness!
